| First place: “The early morning view upon exiting our tent at a camp site situated on 20,000 acres of farmland in North Island, New Zealand.” Shayni Saftler ’08 |
 |
| Second place: “Gena Urowsky ’08, Nisha George ’08 and I went to watch the Annual Great Gorilla Run across four of the bridges in London that span the Thames River. The event was to raise money to save the gorillas around the world. People dressed up in anything from scrubs, Alcatraz costumes, pink ballerina outfits to giant banana costumesall put over a gorilla costumeand then ran the seven kilometers. Shown here is a rugby-themed family. The expression of the little baby is just fabulous.” Nina Bordeaux ’08 |

| Third place: “Janet Komatsu came out to New Zealand during fall break and we did a 20 kilometer hike around this lake. About six hours after taking this picture, we were on the complete opposite end of the lake (at the second farthest mountain) staying in a wooden shack some locals had built 20 years before.” Zack Rubin ’08 |

| Honorable mention: “Magdalen College, Oxford University. Apparently nature had its own ideas as did the students who took the opportunity to build a snowman on the lawn. “ Andrew Danowitz '08 |

Honorable mention: “This sunset was taken over the famous caldera (a volcanic feature formed by the collapse of land following a volcanic eruption) in the Greek island of Santorini. My friends and I had been island hopping among the Cyclades island group, and being a lover of classical arts, I had to capture this moment in which the sculpture was so perfectly silhouetted.” Natt Supab ’08

| Honorable mention: “This photo of me was taken during my trip to Australia. This climb is a classic of the area at which we were staying but was a little difficult for a warm-up first thing in the morning. The roof is about 20 ft. long and very tiring. I could not do that last move and fell 40 ft. upside down at 9:30 a.m. What a way to wake up.” Zack Rubin ’08 |
 |
| Honorable mention: "This half-submerged wooden path is part of the trail up to the top of Cradle Mountain in Tasmania, which I hiked in mid-March with some other American students who where studying in Melbourne. You can see them at the very top of the picture. Most of this trail was either sinking into marshland like this, or was along large, even rocks on the side fo the mountain. In both cases, it could barely be called a trail." Angela Berti '08 |

"Taken in the village of Suzdal, Russia in April 2007. Colorful scarves flutter in the wind on an otherwise bleak, chilly spring day. Street vendors selling various items is a common sight, and most people walking past took little notice of this scarf display." Meredith Rawls '08

"Taken at the Cuban Music Awards at the Floridita Club in London. I caught this right as the dancer was exiting out of the center stsage, and was surprised she could manage to smoke a cigar while doing all of her vigorous dancing!" Nisha George '08 |

"A friend and I went to Island Bay in Wellington, New Zealand, hoping to catch some seals on the shore. Instead, when we were on our way, it was pouring. We couldn't do the walking track that would lead us to the seal colony. Luckily, the sky started clearing up when we got to the beach, and the light hit the water just perfectly as the Interislander Ferry was making its way back from the South Island, that I just had to take a picture of the moment." "Inside the Beijing Olympic Construction site. This photo was taken just outside the National Stadium, referred to as the bird's nest, which will be the site of the opening and closing ceremonies as well as several other events. My friend and I were very lucky to get into the Olympic green when I took this picture." Gordon Hoople '08 |

Cinque Terre, Levanto, Italy. "The cliffs of the Northern Italian coastline provide a beautiful vacation spot visited by many Europeans. When we visited in February (the off-season for tourists) we were the only English speaking people in the small town of Levanto. The hike between small coastal towns was filled with views as the one in this picture." Sarah Moore '08 |

"A friend and I were hiking down a hill in Bluff, the southernmost part of the South Island of NZ, and we saw this rainbow stretching across the ocean. I'd never seen one that was that complete, and the fact that it was as far south as we could go made it even better." Ben Stanphill '08 |

"Two Moroccan women washing their clothing in the river. I took it from a van my five friends and I were in. While it was wending its way through the Atlas mountains in Marrakech, I looked out the window and saw this scene, which allowed me to truly grasp that I was not only a continent and ocean away from the U.S., but a whole WORLD away. I could not fathom a life without omnipresent technology, but these people looked perfectly content, perhaps because they were unhindered by all that. I especially liked the little boy playing nearby." Natt Supab '08 |
